Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She's co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, television personality, philanthropist and also the proprietor and publisher of The Huffington Post. She moved from Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and obtained a MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first time as president, and she held it before the age of 21. After graduation she made her name as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later she created a voice-based website that provided critical views regarding the state of affairs. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of famous contributors who shared their views on current events as well as politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections in order to replace Governor Davis. It was comprised of several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was close to her father, her connection to her mom was the defining factor in the remainder of her life. In her earliest period, she displayed leadership skills for which she is still well-known. At the age of 16, she travelled to England to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, where she eventually became its first female and foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with a Master's Degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a critic for a newspaper column and as a host on television. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
